Positive Self Talk – at all times!

If you hear a voice within you saying, ”You are not a painter,” then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced. Vincent Van Gogh (People used to say to me “You gonna be a cartoonist? Get a real job!” I silenced them!)
Although some of the self talk I heard people using was constructive and beneficial, most of it was the opposite – the kind of self talk that was counter-productive and self-defeating. Shad Helmstetter
You’ve got to PERSIST longer than the others!
Posted by: | CommentsI had to persist to become the freelance cartoonist that I’ve been for 27 years. In my early attempts rejection after rejection of my cartoons nearly broke me – I thought of quitting many times.(But only for a few seconds!) Whatever you want in life you can get it but it won’t come easy and it won’t come without heart ache. But if you persevere you’ll get there!
Here’s some of my favourite persistence/perseverence quote….
Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it’s not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won’t. it’s whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere. Barack Obama
Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. Dale Carnegie
I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen. Frank Lloyd Wright
Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before. Herodotus
Success depends on your backbone, not your wishbone. Unknown
Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit. Conrad Hilton
As long as we are persistence in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time. Denis Waitley
Solving problems – inspirational quotes!
Posted by: | CommentsHow you think about a problem is more important than the problem itself – so always think positively. – Norman Vincent Peale
It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer. – Albert Einstein
No problem can stand the assault of sustained thinking. – Voltaire
Don’t dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer. – Denis Waitely
Problems are to the mind what exercise is to the muscles, they toughen and make strong. – Norman Vincent Peale
When a problem comes along, study it until you are completely knowledgeable. Then find that weak spot, break the problem apart, and the rest will be easy. – Norman Vincent Peale
Believe it is possible to solve your problem. Tremendous things happen to the believer. So believe the answer will come. It will. – Norman Vincent Peale(Again! Clever guy our Norman!)
Are your brakes stopping you moving forward!?
Posted by: | Comments“Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?”

You can achieve anything with absolute commitment!
Posted by: | CommentsHi, here’s a cartoon strip on achievement/commitment along with some of my favorite quotes…
Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve. Mary Kay Ash
I believe the true road to preeminent success in any line is to make yourself master in that line. I have no faith in the policy of scattering one’s resources, and in my experience I have rarely if ever met a man who achieved preeminence in money making.. certainly never one in manufacturing.. who was interested in many concerns. Andrew Carnegie

The victory of success is half won when one gains the habit of setting goals and achieving them. Even the most tedious chore will become endurable as you parade through each day convinced that every task, no matter how menial or boring, brings you closer to fulfilling your dreams. Og Mandino

Where is YOUR focus?
Posted by: | CommentsI came across this quote this morning which I thought was apt – was thinking a little negative yesterday!
“When you focus on what’s wrong, you get more of what’s wrong. Conversely, when you focus on what’s right, you get more of what’s right.”
