Forgive me in advance if this is rubs a bit too close to the bone. It’s not meant to be offensive, but it is meant to be objective. (I’ll explain in a second.)

1. You will break your resolutions by the end of January.

2. You will make the same amount of money as the average of your
last 5 year’s total income.

3. You will gain 2 pounds of body fat.

4. You will struggle with the same habits, patterns, and behaviors
that you always have.

Why do I make these predictions? Well, statistically speaking, that’s what will happen to almost everyone, including you. So, it’s a safe bet that the same will happen to you this year. That is, if you don’t make some necessary changes and STICK TO THEM. I know … I know …What nerve? Who the heck am I to say such things? Exactly! No one can make accurate predictions about an individual. Only about populations.

The fact is, it’s only the people who are outside of the “norm”
that really do anything significant with their lives.

Is it just the luck of fate or genetics?

Gary Ryan Blair’s 100 Day Challenge…

A deadline is a time commitment by which your tasks and goals must be achieved. They serve as a powerful strategic weapon which you must use to your advantage.

Here’s a simple yet profound truth, when you set a deadline and expect to get your goals accomplished quickly, they get accomplished quickly.

Any task or goal takes as much time as you allow it to take, and if you set a deadline and don’t allow much time to get the results you expect, it won’t take much time to enjoy victory.

It’s non-negotiable; you will always work best under a self-determined or externally fixed deadline for achieving your goals. By consciously choosing to enforce deadlines and accountability into each action you will begin to fast track your results and rewards.

You will achieve true greatness only after you develop a sense of urgency and importance about what you are doing—urgency to the extent that getting results and achieving your goals is a matter of life or death.

It’s tragically un-hip to procrastinate, to put off for tomorrow what can be done and enjoyed today. A deadline and strong sense of urgency generate energy toward getting results. In short, deadlines challenge you to perform.

Therefore, today and everyday of the challenge, you must purposely put yourself in a position where you have to perform.

Boldness is a strategic tactical approach to a given situation. It requires good situational awareness, strong nerves and craftiness. Boldness involves taking risks and when you decide upon a course of action, boldness demands that you execute it aggressively.

Boldness, does not mean being rude, reckless, insensitive, arrogant, or a bully. None of these attributes are acceptable to any of us … ever!

Boldness is a spirited word that eloquently describes bravery. It takes a great deal of boldness to confront and tackle the issues in today’s society with a straightforward approach.

Boldness isn’t inherited. It’s a characteristic that will blossom with the determination you have to live an uncommon life of bravery.

Boldness comes when you begin to make valued decisions and move forward for what you believe in. By challenging individual growth and creating goals you are bringing clarity to your dreams and energy that will revitalize your mind, body, and spirit.

When will your finest hour come, and how will it arrive? Do you really think it will materialize without an act of supreme confidence, audacity or boldness? What bold initiatives are you planning for?

Your challenge today is to act with boldness in every situation. Speak up, act with complete confidence and expect that things will go your way.

The goal choices you make today set the pace (fast) as well as the tone (playing to win), and the actions you take today determine both your direction and destiny.

To ensure a good start, you must take that bold first step, you must identify three achievable goals and you must pursue victory throughout the day. You must start the day fast and finish the day strong.

You must have the conviction that the purpose of setting a goal must be to achieve it, as there is no purer form of success, no more exact and exacting test of what you are capable of than to seize every opportunity, and achieve everything you set out to do.

In the movie Dead Poets Society, Robin Williams plays the new English teacher, John Keating. During his very first class session Keating demonstrates forcefully that he is not just there to convey academic information, but also to show what students can do with such knowledge in their everyday lives. The first class session is, indeed, not so much a

lesson in English literature, but a dramatic philosophical wake-up call:

The verbal form of the call is “Carpe Diem–seize the day!” Keating tells his students to take a look at Robert Herrick’s famous lines:

Gather the rosebuds while ye may,

Old Time is still a-flying;

And this same flower that smiles today,

To-morrow will be dying

“Why does the poet write these lines?” Keating asks, and he eventually answers himself with a flourish: “Because we are food for worms, lads. Because we’re only going to experience a limited number of springs, summers, and falls. One day, hard as it is to believe, each and every one of us is going to stop breathing, turn cold, and die!”

To drive home this point Keating makes the students look at the old photographs of former students that decorate the hallways. “They are not that different than any of you, are they? There’s hope in their eyes, just like in yours. They believe themselves destined for wonderful things, just like many of you. Well, where are those smiles now, boys? What of that hope?” The students are sobered by what Keating is saying. Keating continues:

Did most of them not wait until it was too late before making their lives into even one iota of what they were capable?

In chasing the almighty deity of success did they not squander their boyhood dreams? Most of those gentlemen are now fertilizing daffodils. However, if you get very close, boys, you can hear them whisper. Go ahead, lean in. Hear it?

(Whispering) Carpe Diem, lads. Seize the day. Make your lives extraordinary!

Keating’s teaching methods are unusual. He does not just tell students that it is important to keep an open, flexible mind, and to look at things from different and changing points of view. Rather, he makes them literally climb on top of

a desk and take a look around.

This unconventional and physical translation of the run-down expression “changing one’s point of view” has far more effect on his students’ dispositions than any amount of theoretical explanation.

Seize the Challenge

Seize the challenge by seizing the opportunities of each day. Begin by embracing three goals that gratify your passion and which beg for your attention. The ones that say come and get me.

• The broken relationship you’ve wanted to restore? Work at it today!

• The decision to confront your fears and dump all of those excuses? Do it today!

Here’s what you have to do, today—right now. You’ve got to get started on becoming a better version of who you really are.

Do it today not tomorrow, that’s really the key idea of today’s message. So get started and get started right now. You can change your life today and the time to do it now!
