Two Job Offers!

I know this is an old one – but it still amuses me if I ever show it anyone.

You get two job offers on the same day. Offer one is to earn $1000 a day for 30 days and the second one someone offers to pay you 1¢ on the first day of work, and then doubling each following day’s wages by each preceding day’s earnings. Which one do you take?

Well, I hope you went for the ’1c a day doubling up’ offer – because this is what you’ll have at the end of 30 days….Over $5,000,000!!! Not just $30,000!

REASON # 7 – You look at what you can buy with
your salary increase – not how much you can save.

I know many people that have homes to die for. The only
problem is that their mortgage is bigger than the house!

The equation is simple – if you increase your borrowings in
line with your salary you will be poor when you retire. If
you increase your savings in line with your salary you will
become rich when you retire. It’s really that simple.

In the classic book “The Richest Man in Babylon”, George S.
Clason wrote that if you saved 10% of your salary every
month…you would become rich. Although the book was written
in the early 20th century…it’s probably more relevant than
ever.

Save a proportion of your salary every month…even if it is
only 1%. And make sure that you cannot easily access it. If
you do this…not only will you have some money behind you
…but you will also get into the habit of saving.

Believe me…once you get into that habit…you will get as
much pleasure from saving and investing as you do from
spending.

It may seem unbelievable to you…but take my word for it -
it’s true!

REASON # 5 – You think that commuting time should
be spent reading a newspaper or listening to the radio.

If you commute to work, then you should be using your time
more effectively. You could be wasting the equivalent of one
day a week reading newspapers or listening to the radio,
when you could be working on your self-development.

If you want to read a novel…read it in your lunch hour.

This may seem harsh to some people…but you have to educate
yourself if you want to be successful…in whatever you do.

Personal development has a fantastic knock-on effect on the
rest of your life. By looking inward…you affect what is
going on outside in the real world.

- If you are happier…your relationships will be happier.
- If you are focused on your goals…then you will be more
focused at work.
- If you have a positive attitude…then people will become
drawn to you.

This “Law of Attraction” happens subconsciously. It’s one
of the best things about self-development.

Practice a little development often…and it will have an
amazing effect on your life and where it is going.

REASON # 2 – You can never imagine yourself as a success.

Successful people always have a vision of where they want to
be in the future.

Can you imagine yourself living the life of luxury in Monte
Carlo or on a yacht in the Caribbean?

Didn’t think you could.

Most people (apart from the successful ones) have a vision
of under-achievement. They never believe that they could
possibly be millionaires, or live a life like a famous role
model.

I call this “Oh Well” thinking. You always hear yourself say
“Oh Well…it will never happen for me” or “Oh Well…she’s
luckier than me anyway”.

Think like a winner…and you will become a winner.

Look at the example of one of the greatest boxers of all
time – Muhammad Ali. You probably remember his catchphrase.
The thing was…he even said it when he was starting out and
was plain old Cassius Clay…

Have you been watching Britain’s Got Talent?
Susan Boyle, has captured the world’s attention.
In case you’ve missed it, she’s a 47-year-old unemployed charity
worker who lives with her cat in a small village in Scotland.
Susan Boyle is a phenomenal role model for all of us, not just
because of her talent or her courage or her perseverance or her
supportive friends. She is a phenomenal role model for us
because she is us, in all our awkward ordinariness and amazing
extraordinariness.
Some say she’s an overnight success – but she has been practicing her singing since she was 12 years old – so it’s actually overnight is 35 years!

Her YouTube video has received 50,000,000 hits – I’m thinking
of asking her to appear on my web site!!

Susan Boyle had a dream – so can you!

If you can dream it you can achieve it!
