There I was the other night sat in my armchair with
one eye on my laptop surfing the net for motivational
quotes and the other eye on the TV watching ‘Who Wants
To Be a Millionaire’ – using up a couple of life lines on
the £100 question.(I blame the lack of concentration!)
When I came across a quote from Denis Waitley
which then sparked the attached cartoon idea…

Cartoon Motivators – DON’T be jealous of the rich!
Posted by: | CommentsHere’s today’s Cartoon Motivator making the point about not being jealous of rich people. You have to admire what they’ve achieved and this will help you on your road to success.

“11 Reasons Why You Will Never Succeed” By Gary Vurnum PART 10
Posted by: | CommentsREASON # 10 – You worry what your family and
friends would think about you if you read or listened
to self-development material.

I'm going to be one...a SUCCESS!
I was always embarrassed about reading self-development
books on the train into work.
That was until I realised who was still going to be on the
same train in five years time, and I knew it wasn’t going to
be me!
I still get raised eyebrows from my family, but I will be
the one who is smiling when I achieve what I know that I can
achieve. Only this evening…my sister laughed out loud when
I told her that my eBook was called “The Science of Success”
But…at least I am doing what I want to do.
I take my personal development seriously.
Others may ridicule you…or laugh behind your back…but
they will be the jealous ones when you reach your dream…
and they are still stuck in never-never land!
So the moral of the story is…
Do what you want to do with your life…and not what others
say you should do.

Posted by: | CommentsREASON # 9 – You worry more about job security,
than how happy you are.

Enjoy your ONE life!
Job security is all in your mind.
How do you know that the company you work for will be around
in a year’s time, let alone ten year’s time? If you dread
waking up on a Monday morning…
- Find a different job, or
- Find a way to supplement your income so that you can leave
and do what you would really love to do.
I went against my wife and family and quit my job, despite
having no savings. I quit to do this. It’s what I want to do
with my life. Period.
Two years ago, I was counting the years to I retired at 60
with a full two-thirds pension. So what changed?
I changed…because the world won’t.
I decided that I couldn’t be unhappy for 40+ hours a week
…I decided that I wanted to see my family grow up…I
decided that I wanted to help my wife more with our
disabled son.
I decided to do what I wanted to do…and not what society
expects me to do. That’s why I wrote my eBook -
“The Science of Success”
I had a good career…with a decent salary. But I realised
that we are here to enjoy life…and not to struggle with
life. I have seen enough miserable people who work 70+
hours a week and have a fantastic salary…yet their kids
hardly know them.
It’s your life…and you only get one shot at it.
So you might as well enjoy it!
I hope that this part of the report has shown you
that there are more ways to be a success, other than what
can be measured in monetary terms.

Posted by: | CommentsREASON # 3 – You’d rather watch television that work
on your personal development.
Once you have used time, you cannot get it back. Isn’t it
more important to use it for your development than for
watching the TV?
One of my top 3 all-time quotes comes from my mentor -
Jim Rohn. He says:
“Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money,
but you cannot get more time”
I used to spend all weekend reading the thick broadsheet
newspapers – it used to take that long! I realised that I
was wasting days, even weeks, every year reading about
things that had already happened!
What good will that do for my future?
So now…I’m more selective in what I do…and what I read.
I get as much information from quickly glancing through a
newspaper as I did from reading it from cover to cover. I
only watch the TV programmes I really want to watch…and
not just anything that happens to be on.
Use your time wisely.
Did you know that if you got into the office one hour
earlier every working day…you would be producing almost
7 WORKING WEEKS more work in a 48-week year! (See I even
gave you time off for your vacation.)
I got up an extra hour earlier every day so that I could
spend quality time writing my eBook – “The Science of Success”
Once I had got used to it…I didn’t really notice any
difference!
Imagine the impact 2 hours less TV every night could have
on your life and your future. Makes you think, doesn’t it?
Cartoon – Real Winners!

Hey! What if you put round wheels on it?

Posted by: | CommentsREASON #1 – You never act on the information you read in
self-help books.
Reading the latest book by your favourite self-help author
may be interesting, even enlightening, but it is money
wasted if you just read the book, and do nothing else.
It seems that a lot of people want to champion the fact that
they have read “hundreds” of self-help books. For all the
good it has done them, they might as well have read hundreds
of novels!
You can get something out of every self-help book you read
…if you actually do something with the information rather
than just read it. By their very nature, these books should
be treated as life “User Guides” and dipped into at regular
intervals for inspiration.
If you do read a book from cover-to-cover make sure that you
have made notes about those “Ah ha” moments that you should
have had if the book has lived up to it’s promises.
The best thing of all to do is to summarize the book
yourself…by understanding the information on your own
terms you will be more able to focus on what you can apply
in real life.
I’m a great admirer of Gary’s work and have known him for years and love his ‘down-to-Earth’ approach.
